Clinical Intelligence
Clinical Intelligence, a more recent buzz word within HIT, refers to data that is patient specific that provides a red flag for immediate response, or summary data that reveals trends in overall patient care. Clinical Intelligence includes decision support features for clinical professionals as well as data that drive the resident’s plan of care. Clincal Intelligence can be used to improve processes that administer care to patients globally as well. In some cases specialized software analyzes seemingly disparate pieces of information that collectively are clinically significant.
For instance; does a recent change in incontinence care as evidenced by an increase in the use of disposable diapers or bed sore treatment products within the facility identify a trend of an increase in bed sores? Compliance as well as the efficient delivery of patient care is affected by readily available Clinical Intelligence that allows healthcare administrators to quickly respond to changes in the quality of patient care.
